This midwest customer (Indiana) was thinking about installing four 30x60 skylights, totaling 50 sq. ft. of glazing area. Instead, they installed four SunPipe-13's totaling 3.6 sq. ft. of glazing area, thereby preserving 46.4 sq. ft. of roof insulation. Estimated HVAC energy savings = $800/Yr. Return on investment = 2 years.

No Light

After seeing two SunPipes installed at a neighbor's house, the owner of this home decided to brighten up their "dead" living room. Once isolated from daylight...

One of our most highly contrasted photo sets, this 8-ft X 13-in diameter "SunLight Pipe" was installed in 1991 where an electric fixture used to be. This photo was taken with top of pipe covered to block out the daylight, and features our larger "Hi-Output" ceiling diffuser (also featured in "Kitchens" section).

This SunPipe customer was warned, as are all our bedroom customers who discuss their application with us, that the SunPipe is very bright. If you require darkness to sleep, we do not recommend installation. We have since provided them a lower-output "Low Profile" dome, but it's still quite bright.

Some people have said, "Since I have a 2-story home, I can't use a SunPipe." Not true!
The most popular SunPiped locations in a 2-story home are; a) the stairwell & up-stairs hallway (what we call the "Double Whamie"), b) 2nd floor bathrooms and c) bedrooms.

This once dungeon-like stairwell is now permanently bright. This SunLight Pipe performs as well in 1999 as when it was originally installed in 1991.

The windowless up-stairs hallway is equally well lighted.
